About Our Work

Tom Hennes is a distinguished designer and thought leader in the exhibition medium. His approach to design is grounded in a deep knowledge of history and world cultures, and a profound respect for the environment.

Prior to launching Thinc in 1992, Tom was a successful theatrical designer in New York. He has taught exhibition design at Rhode Island School of Design and Pratt Institute, and he has lectured at conferences and universities in the United States and Europe. His scholarly writings promote the transformation of exhibitions into powerful places of personal experience and learning. In his current writing, he explores new ways in which exhibitions and whole institutions can be designed to form and sustain active communities. His integration of visitors' individual and collective experiences into the work of exhibition design has increasingly placed him at the forefront of the field.

Tom also serves as Exhibitions Editor for Curator, The Museum Journal.
