The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk

Discover unexpected richness

The vastly underappreciated Long Island Sound is among the most dynamic bodies of water in the world. In order to bring this richness to light, the renewed vision of the Maritime Aquarium embraces the perspective of environmental history: all organisms, to one degree or another, shape and are shaped by their environment. As it is renovated, the Aquarium will reveal the vibrant interdependence at the heart of Long Island Sound's health. By emphasizing the 12,000 years of human habitation in the region, it will also awaken visitors to their own potential to impact -- positively and negatively -- their environment.
