Explore the nature of exploration
A journey into the darkest depths of the ocean where light never penetrates, Challenge of the Deep focuses on modern deep-water exploration and the artifacts and specimens uncovered in the process. The exhibition moves visitors from the familiar to the unknown, transforming archival media into an immersive environment that evokes an experience of the deep ocean. The exhibition's central goal, championed by the founder of the Institute, the renowned explorer Robert D. Ballard, is to inspire a new generation of explorers. The floating-image media and a broad range of interactive videos and animations were produced by Xenon. The immersive, spherical "Dive Theatre" video was produced by Dennis Earl Moore Productions. |
